In order to apply for a license to carry a concealed handgun in Texas, you must:

*  Take a training course of 10 to 15 hours taught by a Texas Department of Public Safety certified instructor

*  Demonstrate your proficiency with a handgun

*  Submit two sets of your fingerprints (electronically) and two passport photos

*  Submit your application online to Texas DPS

*  Pass a background investigation by Texas DPS

*  Pay a fee to Texas DPS

The license you receive will be valid for at least 4 years.  When renewed, it will be for a period of not less than 5 years.

SCHEDULE

Our classes are generally held on the second Friday of each month starting at 6:00 pm at the Burdett & Son classroom.  We shoot at 9:00 am the following Saturday at Gunsmoke Shooting Range (weather permitting), with the balance of the classroom instruction following back at the classroom.

COST

The course costs $98.00 and includes the range fee.  You provide your own factory ammunition (sorry, the state does not allow reloaded ammunition). Loaner pistols are available for no extra charge.
If you are renewing your license the cost is $60.00.

If you have friends who would like to take Concealed Handgun Training as a group, we can schedule a private class.
